My First Time at The Fashion Souk — Honest Opinion

My First Time at The Fashion Souk — Honest Opinion

A couple weeks ago, I had the incredible opportunity to showcase my plus-size fashion brand LC and Cheeks at The Fashion Souk for the very first time — and what an experience it was!

Here are some of my biggest takeaways:

 The Highlights:

  1. Quality Over Quantity – The crowd was amazing! I loved the energy and the quality of customers who stopped by to browse and shop. It reminded me that there’s a real demand for plus-size fashion that’s stylish and intentional.
  2. So Much Nigerian Creativity – It was incredibly inspiring to see other fashion vendors doing their thing. From unique pieces to impeccable branding, the level of creativity and growth among Nigerian brands blew me away!
  3. Networking Goldmine – It’s not just a market, it’s a community. I met so many like-minded entrepreneurs and potential collaborators — you really can’t put a price on that.
  4. Support That Showed – Big shoutout to the organizers and financial partners. They ensured we were well taken care of and lacked nothing — truly a vendor-friendly event!
  5. Spotlight Moments – Having MCs move from stall to stall, announcing our offerings on the big screen and sound system, gave every vendor a moment in the spotlight. That visibility was golden!

 The Not-So-Great Bits:

  • Day one was hit hard by heavy rain, which really affected turnout. Lagos weather did its thing!
  • The venue was quite large, which meant customers were pretty worn out by the time they reached stalls like mine positioned at the very end.
  • With so many brands in attendance, it was clear that having your own marketing strategy was essential — many shoppers came already knowing where they planned to buy from.

But all in all, I absolutely recommend it and I’m already looking forward to doing it again this December!

To all my fellow vendors and shoppers — thank you for the love, the feedback, and the support. Here’s to more visibility for plus-size fashion in mainstream spaces!
